Measurement of base displacement

With this transparency it is possible to measure the indicator concerning "base displacement" (which is the degree of upward or downward displacement 
shown by each letter's base with reference to a perfect horizontal alignment with the adjoining alphabetical symbols). In this specific case, the handwriting is remarkably "springy", with frequent and conspicuous (upward or downward) letters' jolts during the flow of the script to the right of the paper. Particularly worth of notice are the "i-d" and "e-n" passages at the beginning of the word "identità".
